dbx, I agree with give some money to neuroscience and gene research. But, I wouldn´t invest my money to look for aliens. That´s sure.
And when I were in Venezuela I would give some money to my partner´s family. I would change all huts that are in the mountains in the way to Caracas for houses.
And the same in India and in Africa. I would take scientists to teach African people. It´s a wonderful dream.

and why do you assume that I'll give my money away for looking for aliens? Do you even know what astrophysics is? Its the science that tries to explain how stars, planets, galaxies, nebula's, clusters and superclusters, quasars, black holes, etc form and work, including their luminosity, density, thermal properties, etc. Astrophysics is a subset of cosmology, which the latter deals with the universe as a whole and tries to find out how things work on a much larger scale.

That said, I'll probably also invest in cosmology and quantum physics. I don't do SETI for aliens

I would indulge in a copious amount of drugs daily and probally go overboard one day and overdose high as a kite.

I would also buy a house near the ocean and a sweet ride.

Go to the dentist, visit a psychologist, invest in a new, fuel efficient car, help my dad get that bar he wants to buy, attend a college outside of Cincinnati, pick up a modest house, and eat a lot more fruits and veggies!

I'd also probably drink more and waste more money on drugs. Oh well, lol. I doubt I'd OD like st3ve predicts he will.

I guess it depends on how rich I am in this rhetorical situation!

But, basically, sort out my parents financially, and my sister.

That would be the priority.

And if there's lots more to go around:

Buy myself an apartment in the city, and a house right on the west coast - preferably in West Cork/Kerry.

Buy myself an original VW Bug.

Learn to swim and then surf;not vice versa...

Set up/help administer an existing program that helps homeless people practically in their day to day lives & longterm.

Set up/help administer a program that helps out young people who are suffering from psych disorders.

Purchase a big sea going ship, for no good reason other than the fact I like ships and their engineering.

Invest in/set up programs to further R&D in fields I find interesting.

Donate to the many projects and organisations I've benefitted from over the years, be they listener supported radio stations, museums or websites that offered good information, whatever.

If I'm supremely wealthy, I'll employ thousands of people in some huge loss making enterprise which focuses on creativity and the best in human behaviour.

I shouldn't have said OD, I meant more like "get way out of control" with it and do it all the time since i wouldnt have to worry about money.
