What book(s) are you currently reading?

The Candlelight Murders by Oscar Wilde, then I'll probably be moving on to The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides and then Jack Kerouac's On the Road. Or maybe I'll switch the order.

Have you read Wilde's other book: The Picture of Dorian Gray?; or what about his many controversial quotes? He seems like a guy who had a lot of hatred for the world, but that's understandable. There's a statue of him in Dublin outside a park called Merrion Square. It's not the greatest pose in the world and kind of 'taints' the guy:

I was halfway through reading it in High School before I got sick and had to drop out for a while. Now that you've reminded me, I'll have to finish that one

Yeah, he was very wise. A maverick for his time, and I do admire him for that, though there are many things about him I disagree with aswell. Interesting statue Perhaps he should have been sitting upright for that one.

Yeh, i'm just thinking now that the pesron who sculpted that must have had a disliking to him or something. It really doesn't do him any justice, does it? Wilde lived in a house on Merrion Square, which is why the statue is there - It's one of the richest areas in Dublin.

You need to definately finish that book - one of the best I've ever read.

Poor Oscar, lol. Yeah, I'd read he lived there from a biography. It's directly opposite his house isn't it? Apparently it was sculpted by sculptor 'Danny Osborne'. Not quite sure who that was, but I suppose they may have also just made a few 'miscalculations' with the statue...Yes, I'll definitely finish the book now

Merrion Square - like I said - is a rich area. The Taoiseach's (Prime Minister's) office is on Merrion Square, as is the main parliament building, a big art gallery, a museum full of stuffed animals, and the HQ of our national football association. One of the country's main hospitals is just off it too, as is Trinity College.

Back to books, I bought a book about Saddam Hussein today that I will read when I finish college. I already have to read Hitler's Mein Kampf.
