YarlSoutan, I agree with you here of course, but I think that the world pretty much lets any nation do what they want, with notable exceptions. Just look around you in the world right now:

- FARC rebels in Colombia are still overpowering the colombian government. Does any other nation really offer that much help? - no.

- In Sudan, there have been 1,000,000+ people killed within the past few years, but nobody did anything except send in a few peace-keepers

- In Kenya, in the 1990's, 1,000,000 people were slaughtered by an ethnic group supported by the Kenyan government. No other nation did anything about it.

- In Zimbabwe, Mugabe still rules and is crippling his fellow countrymen. The rest of the world just sit and make comments about the duire state of Zimbabwe, but do nothing.

- In Somalia, there is no government at all! Does anyone else care? - not really.

Where else... ... ...hmmm... ... ...In Sri Lanka, the government is still fighting (for over two decades now) against a rebel group. In Nigeria, oil companies exploit people, but no-one else cares, so long as they get their oil.

Let us not forget the oppressive regime in Myanmar. What ever happen to our mission to liberate the world from dictators?

What happened when Iraq invaded Kuwait? They have oil and the U.S. couldn't let Saddam Hussein have it. So we invaded with the excuse that we were saving democracy in Kuwait when it isn't even a democracy.

Israel receives more foreign aid from the U.S. than any other country. As an American, I can think of so many better things to invest our tax dollars in.

It went down the drain, that's where it went. Other thigns that went down the drain were the UN Declaration of Human Rights, the drive to abolish world hunger, and i'm sure there are many others. We don't hear much about MYanmar because there's nothing of worth there. I mean, they speak a foreign language and have a completely different culture to us... ...of course we shouldn't give a damn about them... ...

... ...I was being sarcastic.

Yes this is why we don't bother with the third-world countries where there should be more concern --- what is there for us powerfully hungry Americans? :x It's a sick character of the land of liberty - opportunity and only accept others opportunities for us, of course.....

Israel is a pack of liars in my opinion - not anti-semitic in fact a while I thought I was Jewish myself - maybe I am - maybe we all are - and maybe no one is.... It's not so much a matter of race or religion but a matter of priority......
Blue-collar, how about no collar ? - unleash yourself from the pollution of the world thought police....

hehe, 50%+ of Americans are obese, and millions of people in Africa are dying of starvation. Does that make sense in a moral world? No, it doesn't. So, I guess that the world isn't moral. my brother says that the world only has a finite/limited amount of wealth and that the bigger nations will always try to ensure that the lessder nations don't get anywhere. I mean, China has become huge over the past while which has resulted in the power of the British, Americans, etc. decreasing slightly.

Ever heard of Darwin? Survival of the fittest. I really couldn't care less about most of the world.

China wouldn't be where it is today if we didn't give it MFN status. In the U.S., it's hard to find any product on the shelves that's not made in China.

Unfortunately, that is true, Asuka. A 'warless' world is a pipe-dream really. There will always be wars as long as humans exists. War activists probably don't realise this, but it's nice that they keep airing their discontent anyway. This reminds me of the one good thing that I can think of about my country, Ireland, which is the fact that we remain a peaceful/neutral nation whenever a war exists. Our army is only involved in peace-keeping missions, and our army actually has a sub-division of elite commandos (the 'Irish Rangers') that are regarded as one of the best in the world at their job.

If I remember correctly wasn't Ireland in some sort of Civil War in the 70s?
