Gone Baby Gone (Only open if you have seen it!)

I saw the movie Gone Baby Gone recently, and it had one of the most difficult moral dilemmas I've ever seen in a film. What would you have done if you were Patrick (Casey Affleck's character?)

While I couldn't support making what the police chief and the girl's uncle did legal because it would result in chaos, morally I don't think they did anything wrong. I would have left her with Morgan Freeman's character and family, where she was loved, cared after, and happy. Her mother claimed to love her, but never showed it in any of her actions, I can understand why Patrick called the police, and I would have been very tempted to do the same, but I've thought about it a lot since I saw the film, and I think the real crime would be to doom a girl to a loveless home with no future when she could have been raised by a loving family who could provide her with the means of a promising future. I could be wrong though, it's a really tough situation. I couldn't imagine having to make it in real life, no matter what I did I think it would haunt me for the rest of my life, I would always be wondering if I did the right thing

What are your guys' thoughts?

That question really got to me too. The person I saw it with was very annoyed at him for calling the police knowing what the little girl was going back too. Personally I would have called the police because she'd be less likely to come to me and ask why I returned her to her mother when she could have had a better life elsewhere. But I agree that it is a moral dilemma.
Who in the rainbow can draw the line where the violet tint ends and the orange tint begins? Distinctly we see the difference of the colours, but where exactly does the first blendingly enter the other?
