I knew a guy once who worked in SuperValu. One day, his shoe fell off while he was loading stock onto a service lift. As he reached his leg into the lift to place his foot into the shoe, someone on the ground floor called the lift and it started to move. The guy didn't have time to get his leg out of the way and his entire leg got caught in the tiny gap between the lift and the lift-wall. He lost a whole load of the flesh from his leg and had to get skin- and muscle-grafts from his ass, shoulders, and any other area where flesh could be taken from!
I've never broken any bones myself. The most serious of injury was probably when my entire colon was inflamed and was basically functionless. Apparently (and according to my doctor), I was in danger of near death. Internal injuries aren't as gruesome as external ones though.
