But I only present this idea as a way of refuting the bible as flawed.

I'm well-aware that the Bible is 'flawed', but I think it's closer to the truth that what you're presenting to us. My thoughts are that there was, in fact, a man called Jesus a couple of thousand years ago; and that he did have these 12 apostles who were loyal to him. However, he was nothing more than a revolutionist who spoke-out against the rulers of the time. He and his apostles travelled around doing nice deeds for people to get them on his side and, I'm sure, it was his apostles who exaggerated the stories in the bible to make their cause seem more meaningful.

Science wasn't as common knowledge back then as it is now and, therefore, people would have been more likely to believe such far-fetched stories that they were being told.

Those of a religious nature would say that they do not require "proof"... that is why it is called faith not science.

science is the application of knowledge, whereas faith is rejection of it.

The body of scientific thought is continually changing and redefining itself. Those of faith accept that there are things beyond the understanding of the human mind.

Most of those who embrace religion do not discount science and only foolish scientists would believe that they know all the answers.

Hmm, I'm a scientist but certainly don't think that science can explain everything that happens in the Universe; and I am always open to things. I am in no way religious, but I'm not exactly the type of scientist who goes out of his way to berate religious people either. In fact, I 'rescued' a girl in my college from such a guy once and then called him arrogant straight to his face. He seemed taken aback and didn't know how to react to my comment; and his face turned red

In response to that, I will say this: "Nature had to give us a brain in order for us to realise that having a brain is a very bad idea indeed". That's a personal quote that I made-up about two years ago. Basically, I think that 'intelligence' is a bad thing, and we can be as arrogant as we want to be about what we know, but we will never truly amount to anything in the face of the Universe. It is the real king ('God', if yu will): It allowed for our creation and it will be responsible for our destruction, irrespective of what we do.

I'm being hypocritical here, by the way :P

Intelligence is what seperates us from animals. God didnt want us to have it, and if it were not for the rebel aliens we wouldnt. And we could have been free of destruction too had not our so called 'God' betrayed us and allowed us to die so early.

... ...But we are animals ourselves (by definition of the word) and many of the genes that make-up our 'intelligence' exist in other animals spread-out across the animal kingdom. So, we are more an amalgamation of the good points of many other different animals - They are each stepping-stones to us. I am almost certain that this world would be a better place without us.

And we could have been free of destruction too had not our so called 'God' betrayed us and allowed us to die so early.

I don't understand what you mean here.
