I Find This Utterly Hilarious...

So they've created a game for the XBox 360 Arcade, and they've - for some odd reason - decided to title it "Schizoid".

But that isn't what I find amusing... Just a quote from the website I linked to above (it will explain itself, I'm sure):

Schizoid, the most co-op game ever, is an action game for 1 or 2 players, who must cooperate to protect each other from barrages of glowing enemies. Schizoid is coming soon on Xbox Live Arcade.

This... This is how I know life is a joke.

I don't suppose I'm the only one who sees the irony in this.

yeah hilarious!

as if the term isn't already misused and abused - it's still used interchangably with "schizophrenia" by many.

without a name, without a face, without a future.

MadMel, I was posting this because I, too, have schizoid traits, so I don't they have included me in anything of the sort, nor do I think I would actually want to be included.

I posted this to see if anyone else agreed with the ignorance (and irony) that is shown by the company for creating it.

I apologize if you took offense. It was not my intention.

I liked your thread Air Captain and your forum name, what you wrote about this game/company was interesting.

I personally am not offended by this game,I might buy it myself to play.

Asuka wrote:Whats more ironic is that Schizophrenia is, by the masses, synonymous with dissociative disorder....double the irony. However I sometimes refer to unpredictable weather as "Schizophrenic weather." I suppose its similiar to when say "Jesus Christ" when shocked, as I'm an atheist. Well I had a good laugh when I first heard of the game. I doubt many 360 owners would think of S.P.D. when they first saw that game.

What's even more ironic is that you can see from the Wikipedia article that the term schizoid in that case is used to refer to multiple personalities. So it's really using schizoid as a synonym of dissociative identity disorder; so it's actually a triple irony.

Yes, I saw this somewhere else and thought it was ridiculous. There are a lot of people who think "schizoid" means "psychotic."

Or they think it means schizophrenic which they think means split personality. Like the woman with 17 different personalities. Sigh...............
