what do you do to fill in spare time

Forget about mental illness for a while and just let loose in here.

Wait wait - I hope that this medication you take is all prescribed and is of the correct dosage? You don't want to be taking too little or too much of a prescribed medication because the effects can be horrific.

2 days you say? - That's excellent. Hang in there, behave, and you will be out in no time :)

Take care,
Kevin

Yes, I take the right prescribed medication but it wasn't working and I ended up doing some bad things. The doctor had said if I wanted I could take a pill every other day even though my medication was prescribed for twice daily, but this was because I was planning a long trip to goto Mexico and needed as much medicaiton to last me the trip. I ended up getting over anxietied (if that is a word) then I started writing bad e-mails to my sister telling her that I'm not coming back to Canada and not to try to take me back and if she does to drop dead. I regret saying that in the e-mail but she's fully forgiven me and I have my family now. I'll be sent back home to live with my mom and go to a unit for my depot every 2-3 weeks and get my prescription. They have me on alot of medications now so and I have the shakes so I just hope they can get me on something similar to what I was on before this time around so I won't ever have to visit the hospital again and at the same time be at a low dosage where I don't have any side-effects.

PS. I think were straying a little from the original topic.

Since I'm basically retired I have a lot of spare time.

To fill in my spare time I browse the Internet though I'm doing it less now that it's warm out. There are a lot of things to do outside. I got into gardening this year for the first time. My yard and gardens aren't anything special but I like them.

I used to think of computers as a hobby. I learned enough about them to get a couple of easy certifications and for awhile I had the idea that I could make a few bucks fixing computers. For a lot of reasons, which I don't care to explain, I've given up on that idea.

I'm still, at heart, a computer hobbyist but I've also found that I like to make small graphics, especially animated gifs. I like the endless loop kind of gif the best, they're the hardest to make. I'd post one as an avatar but I'm too lazy to create another online account just for one picture. I'm known in small circles for my other photobucket account's name and that's easily visible by right-clicking on any picture and choosing Properties. (If you do that you can see the location where the picture is posted.)

Is that paranoia or is that smart? I don't know. I just don't want any hassle from anyone so I try to keep my identity as private as possible. Difficult when you're in a forum such as this. Half a dozen times now I've thought about going back and editing out everything I've posted and yet, I don't know what I'm really worried about.

Sorry-went off-topic.

I cruise the interwebs, sleep, I don't have cable so tv sucks, I work on my truck when I have money.

I used to get drunk.
I can't drink anymore because of the wellbutrin they put me on, wich is prolly good cause I am/was a borderline alcholic. That seems to be going fine, no massive craving to get wasted.

I draw and write disturbing things when I feel like I'm dying, it helps. I can tell when I'm starting to feel better when my work starts to become boring and unoriginal. :D

Hollowman,

I am a computer handyman too. Whenever anyone in my family has a problem, they come to me and I can, 99% of the time, fix their problem. Even my brother, with a PhD in computer 'stuff' ( :? ) comes to me with his problems! I studied Computer Science at college for four years but never picked up a degree (I have a degree in something unrelated).

I'm known in small circles for my other photobucket account's name and that's easily visible by right-clicking on any picture and choosing Properties. (If you do that you can see the location where the picture is posted.)

Is that paranoia or is that smart?

It's neither! - It's just fun to do that. I do it all the time to peoples' avatars here just to 'see where the Internet will take me'. Understand what I mean? It's all about exploring, I guess.

I'm curious, my friend, which program do you use to create animated GIFs?

I use the GIMP. There is a newer version than mine. I'm running version 2.2 as I've gotten it all setup the way I like it and didn't see a need to switch/upgrade. If things go according to plan I'm going to be getting Photoshop in a couple of months, maybe buy a package that includes Corel X and a graphics tablet too.

Most of my gif's have been small ones, 45x60px. I've made a few larger than that but not many. I might get busy and work on one to use here.

One of the things I do is sell logos for websites imprinted on tote bags. I either design a logo from scratch or modify the customers existing logo. We don't sell many but I like doing them. Keeps me busy for awhile. :D

Gimp is a great program. I prefer it over Adobe Photoshop.

I don't often get a chance to talk to someone who has used both. Why do you like the GIMP better?

There are some things I think I'll like better about Photoshop, for one thing, there are a ton of tutorials out there for it. I've pretty much had to learn everything for the GIMP by trial and error even though I do have some good tutorial sites bookmarked.

Hey,

Are you actually registered as a sole-trader for this?; or is it just like, cash-in-hand stuff?

Cool, I have no reason to make animated GIFs at present but I think it's hard to forget the name of that program that you use to make them ('GIMP') - Strange acronym, no?

Is it easy to make the background transparent in GIFs using this program?
