We say that here a lot too. In spring and fall it can be like summer or winter.

That's interesting, PostPerson. Something just occured to me though: Are you a postman? Anyway, it's raining here now - Those clouds have managed to make their way over the Pennines to here. This is only the third time that it's rained here for four weeks though, and that's a good sign. Back home in Ireland, it'd have rained at least once every two days I reckon. I hate the rain, except when you know that you have a warm shower to go home to.

no, i'm not a postman, Kev, it's just a user name, post as in posts, like this. I'm a woman.

The weird thing about changeable/rainy climates is no one ever has picnics or bbqs, that's what struck me, they can't plan outdoor activities. The football goes on in the rain or drizzle but parties or meetups tend to be planned for indoors.

I've lived through a drought (in Perth, WA) that went on for about 5 years, the only time it ever rained it was like a superfine spittle and the drops were about 8 inches apart and that was pretty rare, so after that I got a 'rain hunger' so that's when I moved to the 4-seasons-in one-day town (Albany, WA). I don't mind it, it washes everything clean, nice smell. I always remember that rain hunger...besides, I live on tank water now in Tasmania, I'm on a small acreage.

It's starting to get colder here, fantastic.

(FYI, there is no sarcasm in that sentence i really do mean it.)

Indeed, the Autumn Equinox just passed guys. That means that for us (in the Northern Hemisphere), the nights are now longer than the days. So, be prepared for seasonal affective disordered people to start arriving. I do'nt mean this as a joke, and am actually being serious. My mood is certainly dipping. It used to be kind of 'dull' at this time a few months ago, not pitch-dark.

SAD doesn't effect me at all. I'm like a freaking vampire. I hate the sun. I forgot and went out without my sunglasses today. It was nasty! I could barely see. I felt like I would bust into flames!!

S.A.D effects me but the last 2 years strangely not so much after all these years.

Still hot & humid, weird weather for fall, still expecting more rain.

I'm heading out your way tomorrow Butterfly. Ottawa beckons. You are further west than that though, right? I don't want it raining on me in Ottawa!
