I don't quite know what you mean by a water-fast but you need water to live. I assume you will be drinking other fluids?! You can survive perfectly well without drinking pure water but it's [arguably] the best thing to be drinking.

It contains no calories but has dissolved minerals that the body can use. it also makes the passage of food through the gut easier.

I think it'll end like all your other fasts.

Jo A'ine wrote:I really have to add that if also, this is a fast on water for 21 days, with no other nutition,

which could be the other way to interpret your grammar,

you are also in for an incredibly dangerous ride...one that could place you in the hospital.

I caught this title because this is considered a potential medical/psychological emergency in my circles.

I am an R.N. with PTSD, codependancy, alcoholism, and eating disorder, all treated and stable, but i am sharing that with you so that you know i am not JUST a health care provider.

Won't you take a step back from this most serious "fast" consideration (either way interpreted is VERY serious) and talk about where you are? I recently lost 40 pounds safely over a period of time and i had not been able to lose in many years.

Jo

i just based the 21 days on what i researched to be acceptable

but i have no idea really, thats why i was asking

and i also have had tea and my regular meds

its mostly to kill anxiety and lose some weight

Tea actually contains a natural diuretic (i.e. it reduces the reabsorption of fluid from the nephrons in the kidneys and, thus, increases fluid-loss through urination).

Did you do it? I once went 4 days and I would not go that long again. Once in a while I go 36 hours with just apple juice.

The thing is, there is a lot of water in apple-juice anyway so you aren't really 'fasting' on water. There is water in every drink you can think of and some foods even have a lot of water. For example, lettuce is 97% water.

I would not go any length of time without water. It greatly increases the likelyhood of kidney stones. I had a kidney stone back in 98 and I don't want that happening again.
