General Discussion Thread

It is unrealistic - yes - but there are some here who can do just that (i.e. - ignore offensive posts), including myself. If people have an issue with each other, they should try to understand each others' viewpoint, and/or just ignore each other. Easier said than done though, as you've implied.

I agree with Chucky that we all should learn to conduct ourselves well in interacting with others, or just ignore things. But, as he also said, that's not easy.

Has this idea of having a place where people can fall out and rant it out been tried here in the past or elsewhere? Do we know if it's a bad thing? or do we just imagine that it would be bad?

My opinion is that it's worth a try. Create a forum with some basic guidelines and try it out. If it gets destructive and damaging, then close it and delete the forum. But then at least there's practical experience saying "Tried it. Didn't work" instead of just not even trying it.

I"m not sure I'd want to be the moderator of that forum though

We cannot have members ranting and raving at each other because they do not get a long or disagree with their posts...

Probably not. Not a good idea on a mental health forum. But it was worth a shot at proposing it....

I think that everything is worth a shot, LifeSong, and I can see positives in your idea (but mostly negatives in the long term). If we never gave things a 'shot', then we'd never have gone to the moon and we certainly wouldn't be communicating with each other now via wires and a silly screen. On second thought, maybe that'd be a good thing! ...only joking

The UK's full of binge drinkers,there's punch up on Friday and Saturday nights all the time. Many of the towns on a Friday and Saturday night are no go areas, you get drugged and drunked up little pricks between 15-19 who think they're tough if 6-7 of them jump someone on their own.

Never happened to me, but if any come near me I have a weapon and I won't hesitate on using it.

Hmm, think that you've fallen into the trap of forming an opinion about a nation's culture that is very much wrong. I mean, you can't just walk into a pub here or in Britain and expct to just talk to someone - anyone. As morning star has said, binge drinking is on the rise and the UK is now one of the worst in Europe for fights. Quite possible, when you were here, you only frequented the decent pubs

I think all these drinking problems are here wasting theirs hollidays.
