Hey guys,
Just wondering what qualifications you need to become a psychiatrist?
iv googled it but it comes up with some random stuff.

seroxen u need to get a medical degree to become a doctor first and then u can specialise in psychiatry after a couple of years. im not sure if there's more qualifications u need after the degree but i would have thought so.

Wow that's so off-putting. I live in the UK and want to be a doctor, 5 years of uni is kinda daunting even if I could afford it.

Yea actually. I wanted to do biology and psychology intensive at the same time but the admins at the college said it was a bad idea so I picked psychology.

To become a psychiatrist you need a bachelors degree in pre med, 4 years of med school, and 4 years of practicing in a residency under psychiatrists. I was thinking about being a psychiatrist for awhile but after researching about what their job description is like, I realized it is not for me.
