Close to nature

Postby jester » Mon Aug 20, 2007 8:40 pm

Hi all. This is a poem I re-wrote from a four liner I wrote back in 1990 when I was having serious problems. A friend used to take me fishing to get me away from the stresses that were making me ill, and I'm forever in his debt! Amazing what a positive effect just being close to nature can have. I was lucky enough to wake up just as the Sun was rising on the lake.

Wispy, white wanderers
waltz on the water,
twirling into transparency;
adorning verdure
with crystal kisses,
revealing blackbird’s sonorous song.

Dappled ripples
lap playfully
at shingle shores,
and topsy-turvy conifers
appease my waking eyes.

Horizon’s primrose haze
gives way to
gold-leaf-glimmer,
as cadmium rays
caress my face,
and shimmer through
arboreal shadow.

Thanks Mick. The best word I can think for that is 'refreshing'. :)

gotta love nature

Postby bobob » Tue Dec 04, 2007 11:15 pm

Very well written poem! :)
It IS amazing how much a simple retreat into nature can be so therapeutic. There are so many stresses around us and even a simple drive out of town to look at the stars can put life into perspective and let our minds go a bit so we can re-focus. I have had many life-changing experiences in nature.... on hikes, camping, and just long drives out into the desert.
Never forget that whenever you feel any pain, stress, or problems coming on.
cheers!
