^Peter Greenaway. Muddy, hands down.
I saw a Zed and Two Naughts when I was in my 20s. It introduced me to the French cinematographer Sacha Vierny, who worked on other stellar films, like Last Year at Marienbad.
There are plenty of reasons to dislike the film above Zed, The Thirteenth Floor, but I must admit I rather enjoyed it. I can't say why. Maybe because it didn't shy away from letting it's sci-fi/noir ass hang out. Maybe it was Gretchen Mol.
