Just my opinion here but I would avoid ever shipping through FedEx. Here's a report I just filed through ConsumerAffairs.com.
Basically I shipped 6 packages through FedEx. Only 5 arrived and one of those was damaged, and they all arrived 3 days late nearly ruining our show for us. Now they are denying the claims for the lost and missing packages.
FedEx is worthless, I will only use UPS from here on out.

Incident = I routinely ship packages to Trade Shows where my company is exhibiting. Back in March, my company (psychTracker) was exhibiting at the American Counseling Association. On March 16th, I went to FedEx Kinko\'s in Woodinville and shipped off 6 packages. I asked when the arrival date of the packages would be and was told they would arrive on March 20th. That was fine, the exhibit hall was open from the 21st through the 24th.
On the 21st as the exhibit hall opened I was without any of my packages. I called and asked and they said the packages were in transit and should arrive the next day. On the 22nd, no packages. I called again and was told the packages were STILL in transit and should arrive the next morning. Well the next day five of the packages arrive at the warehouse at about noon. The guys at the warehouse signed off on a large delivery without verifying that all six of my packages were there. They had received 18 packages that day and I can imagine the moron driver from FedEx was in a hurry because he was so late.
Anyway, I finally get five of the packages at about 3:30 on the 23rd. Opening them I notice I am one package short - the package missing was $500 of our primary giveaway. I also noticed one of the packages was damaged, our literature display case. The box had been crushed and one of the clear plastic slots was cracked clean through. I taped it up and got my booth hashed together as best I could.
I called FedEx that day to complain and file a claim. I was told all packages had been signed for and therefore I had no claim on the missing package. I had the bonehead \"service\" agent spek with the woman from the service counter of the company who signed for it and she verified that I only had 5 packages. Of course this doesn\'t matter to the idiots at FedEx.
I miss more than two and a half days of the exhibit hall exposure because FedEx is late, and they lose my primary giveaway and destroy my display rack.
I call again the next day and am told to use their online form to file a claim. The damn form isn\'t working so I call back. They say they can have a truck there in 5 days to pick up the damaged case, then they state again they aren\'t going to pay for the missing case because it was signed for.
I explain that I am in Detroit only one more day and then I fly back to Seattle. They say they need the damaged case or they won\'t pay that claim either. SO meanwhile I have a $150 display case that\'s busted now and am missing $500 of my primary giveaway... oh yeah, and I missed most of the show because I didn\'t have anything to put in my booth!
My Display Case was insured for $100 and noe they want me to send a receipt to show how much I paid for the display rack and spend money to ship the rack to them to show the damage. They also tell me that even if they do pay me for the item, they will be taking into account the age and depreciation of the item... I insured it for $100 - pay me the $100.
How does this company get away with this?
Damage Resulting = These idiots are denying both of my claims. FedEx is a horrible organization. I will never ship with them again and I warn everyone that they are worthless. They take no responsibility for the problems they cause. They will not pay for anything they damage or lose. They also give you the runaround.
The best part?
They mailed my denial to THE WRONG ADDRESS! How does a shipping company with all the records in front of them screw up the address on something they are sending?
So the late denial means that I have to scramble to locate all this info before I leave in a day and a half for another show. I hate FedEx.
