What's your religion?

Postby Snaga » Mon Apr 13, 2015 1:25 pm

Take the Religion test! What religion are YOU??

Copy and paste your results. Sorry it's a bit clunky, you'll have to do a bit of formatting.

I'll go first. The test grades you on a curve, in descending order from the belief system that most exemplifies your personal beliefs, to the one that least reflects your views.

"Your results are scored on a curve. The highest possible score, 100%, represents the closest match to your Spiritual Belief System Selector responses. It does not mean that Mainline - Conservative Christian Protestant matches every one of your response to every question.
Any, or a combination, of the top scoring results may closely match your expressed preferences. "

1. Mainline - Conservative Christian Protestant (100%)
2. Seventh Day Adventist (96%)
3. Orthodox Quaker - Religious Society of Friends (95%)
4. Eastern Orthodox (89%)
5. Roman Catholic (89%)
6. Jehovahs Witness (57%)
7. Orthodox Judaism (56%)
8. Hinduism (54%)
9. Islam (51%)
10. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) (51%)
11. Mainline - Liberal Christian Protestants (48%)
12. Bahai (32%)
13. Liberal Quakers - Religious Society of Friends (31%)
14. Jainism (26%)
15. Mahayana Buddhism (25%)
16. Theravada Buddhism (25%)
17. Sikhism (24%)
18. Reform Judaism (22%)
19. Scientology (22%)
20. Neo-Pagan (20%)
21. Christian Science Church of Christ, Scientist (15%)
22. Unitarian Universalism (11%)
23. New Age (11%)
24. New Thought (10%)
25. Taoism (3%)
26. Non-theist (3%)
27. Secular Humanism (3%)

OR........ in the interests of inclusion.....

The Godless-o-meter!

You may alternately use this if you are dead set on being a non-theist.

http://selectsmart.com/nontheism/

Post your results same as the other test. This is offered as an alternative if you don't feel the other test at all suits you.

For example, WERE I a non-theist, I'd be primarily matched by being a Taoist, followed by Theravada Buddhist, then thirdly a weak agnostic, and so on.

awwwww!!! That's IT? c'mon dish us on the top five, anyway. As the thing says, the top several are kind of a mashup. I mean, I DO happen to identify as conservative protestant, but I admire the quirkiness of the quakers (quirky quakers- I like that) and I could easily see myself being Orthodox. Note it begins to drop off sharply after Roman Catholicism, Then again some ways down. The list as a whole is very interesting to me. But I know it's tedious formatting it if you try to copy and paste the whole thing.

I'm Quaker Oats apparently.

Of the orthodox variety.

Personally I prefer Ready Brek. Orange glow.

Anyway I answered based on what I was brought up to think about religion. I may have a go at the other link in a bit.

Forgot to list all the others above, so here's the list that came out for the Godless one:

1. Ethical Culturist (100%)
2. Strong Agnostic (100%)
3. Deist (92%)
4. Freethinker (92%)
5. Unitarian Universalist (92%)
6. Weak Agnostic (89%)
7. Ignosticist (85%)
8. Confucianist (80%)
9. Secular Humanist (80%)
10. Naturalistic Pantheist (78%)
11. Transhumanist (78%)
12. Atheistic Paganist (70%)
13. Rationalist (70%)
14. Implicit Atheist (69%)
15. Objectivist (65%)
16. Iconoclast (63%)
17. Strong Atheist (63%)
18. Taoist (63%)
19. Theravada Buddhist (58%)

yeah the Quaker thing. select smart also has a Christian denomination test and even though I was raised in a methodist sect, it pegs me as conservative quaker. I don't know if that's just their catch-all, or what.

Graveyard- spiritualist. Maybe the alternate test would be for you? That's why I included the 'godless' test in the first comment. I didn't even know it existed until is posted the cost one. Anyway the first test they admit to not having included many other beliefs. The second one I pushed might have something closer?

Re: What's your religion?

From what I understand (which is very little) on the godless list, mine seems accurate enough for me to accept.

I spent most of my childhood in roman catholic schools, even though I was baptised church of england and had a lot of religion stuffed down my throat, plus told I had sinned but was not allowed to go to the confessional. Hmm. Nice to do that to a child. Not.

As a result, never really questioned my "religion" or thoughts about it too deeply, until now. I just felt how I felt about it and didn't really want to push it any further. When you have a mother who contacts you on Good Friday howling because there is nothing to do with the crucifixation on tv and how rotten and unforgivable that is, while you eat fish that day for an 'easy life', it tends to be something deliberately avoided from my consciousness.

Anyway, found her a recording of the Passion of Jesus performance in Trafalgar Square on YouTube to watch instead; she was happy enough then.

I just read up a bit about ethical culturalism. Deed before Creed. Seems Einstein was an advocate. Makes for interesting reading.

Interesting test though. Thanks for putting it up. Wonder how accurate it is.
