Max (from Mary and Max):

Max Jerry Horovitz: Unfortunately, in America, babies are not found in cola cans. I asked my mother when I was four, and she said they came from eggs laid by rabbis. If you aren't Jewish, they're laid by Catholic nuns. If you're an atheist, they're laid by dirty, lonely prostitutes.

Sunday morning. I awaken fresh as a daisy. The world lies before me, unconquered, unsullied, virgin as the Arctic Zones. I swallow a little bismuth and chloride of lime to drive away the last leaden fumes of inertia. I will go directly to her home, ring the bell, and walk in. Here I am, take me-or stab me to death. Stab the heart, stab the brains, stab the lungs, the kidneys, the viscera, the eyes, the ears. If only one organ be left alive you are doomed-doomed to be mine, forever, in this world and the next and all the worlds to come. I'm a desperado of love, a scalper, a slayer. I'm insatiable. I eat hair, dirty wax, dry blood clots, anything and everything you call yours. Show me your father, with his kites, his race horses, his free passes for the opera: I will eat them all, swallow them alive. Where is the chair you sit in, where is your favorite comb, your toothbrush, your nail file? Trot them out that I may devour them at one gulp. You have a sister more beautiful than yourself, you say. Show her to me-I want to lick the flesh from her bones.

This paragraph made me smile. Would probably be annoyed by the guy irl.

Martha wrote:George who is out somewhere there in the dark... George who is good to me, and whom I revile; who understands me, and whom I push off; who can make me laugh, and I choke it back in my throat; who can hold me, at night, so that it's warm, and whom I will bite so there's blood; who keeps learning the games we play as quickly as I can change the rules; who can make me happy and I do not wish to be happy, and yes I do wish to be happy. George and Martha: sad, sad, sad... whom I will not forgive for having come to rest; for having seen me and having said: yes; this will do; who has made the hideous, the hurting, the insulting mistake of loving me and must be punished for it. George and Martha: sad, sad, sad... who tolerates, which is intolerable; who is kind, which is cruel; who understands, which is beyond comprehension...

Martha: I swear, if you existed, I'd divorce you.

Martha: Truth or illusion, George; you don't know the difference.
George: No, but we must carry on as though we did.
Martha: Amen.

Martha: ... I cry allllll the time; but deep inside, so no one can see me. I cry all the time. And Georgie cries all the time, too. We both cry all the time, and then what we do, we cry, and we take our tears, and we put 'em in the ice box, in the goddamn ice trays until they're all frozen and then... we put them... in our... drinks.

Can't help thinking these two (George and Martha) are in some way disordered. :lol:
Still one of my favorite plays.

...
Clap of thunder! Battering roar the seas,
smiling arrives fair Apollo.
And hark! the silence as thunder flees,
wind drops and waves they soon follow.
And smilingly o’er us holds he sway,
with power his singing it owns the day,
his singing is high and it gently is strong.
passion wins and it triumphs in song.

When phantoms afflict your benighted mind,
indulge in love’s pleasure – they’ll vanish.
If, pressing, the darkness your soul it bind,
indulge in love’s pleasure – it banish.
If a horrid enemy’s onslaught shames,
his yoke will be split by caresses’ claims;
behold, it upends, on its head it turns
and shame in his face it now burns.

Is there any immune to his gentle skill?
Who by language of love’s unvanquished?
Earth and heaven – fathom they both his will,
the air and the mind – his language.
Behold how the calcified breasts he frees,
how raises corpses from sleep his breeze,
how flowers and leaves he entwines in chain:
he dares us to dream again.

You’ll never really find a wicked man;
one feebler than other there’s ever.
Good’s abundance in people accords with plan,
flickers light sporadic, however.
For see, half the virtues in smile are found
and wicked thoughts are submerged and drowned;
when, open, the heart is to all displayed,
God is close to the ones he has made.
...

I suppose I shall have to get back behind the pattern when it comes night, and that is hard!
It is so pleasant to be out in this great room and creep around as I please!
I don't want to go outside. I won't even if Jennie asks me to.
For outside you have to creep on the ground, and everything is green instead of yellow.
But here I can creep smoothly on the floor, and my shoulder just fits in that long smooch around the wall, so I cannot loose my way.

GUIL: It [Hamlet's madness] really boils down to symptoms. Pregnant replies, mystic allusions, mistaken identities, arguing his father is his mother, that sort of thing; intimations of suicide, forgoing of exercise, loss of mirth, hints of claustrophobia not to say delusions of imprisonment; invocations of camels, chameleons, capons, whales, weasels, hawks, handsaws -- riddles, quibbles and evasions; amnesia, paranoia, myopia; day-dreaming, hallucinations; stabbing his elders, abusing his parents, insulting his lover, and appearing hatless in public -- knock-kneed, droop-stockinged and sighing like a love-sick schoolboy, which at his age is coming on a bit strong.

ROS: And talking to himself.

GUIL: And talking to himself.
