It's a line from the Voluspa, the viking poem that describes Ragnarok. I always like a powerful bit of poetic imagery.

If i remember correctly it goes - in translation ......

The viking age is full of nothing if not wonderful poetry, and also bloody murder. Relevant to both, I stumbled upon this snippet yesterday:

Less poetic, but still quite a paragraph to find in a eight-hundred year old piece of high literature, was the following:
