Porn Addiction

Postby johnnygee » Mon Aug 04, 2014 7:13 pm

Trying to beat this addiction. Its really hard. I have gone the maximum of 2 weeks without it and then I relapse. Its escalating to some taboo $#%^ and I realize I want to stop. It is causing all sorts of problems. How can I beat this addiction? What can I do when I have a craving for porn?

I'm sorry you are suffering from this addiction.
I can tell you do not WANT to be a porn addict.
Now is the time to stop, before you spiral into worse
and worse stuff which will erode your spirit and integrity.

Maybe you can find some support online or a sex addicts group
to help you. Put roadblocks to watching porn in your way.
Stay away from the computer for awhile to break the cycle.
Focus your energies on loving, not lusting.

Admitting your addiction here is a good start.
All the best!

Check out *mod edit*. That website has a large community devoted to porn addiction and the problems associated with it. Also, yourbrainonporn.com has a lot of information to assist you if you're in the dark about things but I'm guessing you'll probably know about it already.

Honestly the cravings are hard to deal with but can be swapped out surprisingly easily. Force yourself to do exercise. Even if it's a walk around the block; any start is a good start. Exercise is honestly such a good natural remedy for pretty much anything, especially addiction. It recreates new brain cells which, if you're suffering from porn addiction will most likely be altered by intense amounts of dopamine stimulation.

I also remember reading on NoFap reddit that taking a nap can help nullify the cravings.

If you don't want to try either of these two, I suppose you could try blocking out the porn websites you know of. It isn't an ideal fix but it might help you.

BReal said very important thing. Try to exercise, go out, meet new people. I would suggest you to limit the access to your computer to the minimum. You can even try to install a parental control like PCWebControl and ask a friend to set up computer in a way in which you will have access only one hour a day. Only your friend will now the password to change those settings. Try to treat the computer as a reason of the problem, no method to solve it. Reccomend you some consultations in reality rather than through the internet.

There is a debate whether or not porn is really that bad for you. I think in moderation it is okay. Just stay away from the beastiality! What is considered addiction? It is natural to masturbate/have sex. Humans are animals. What about for people that can't get or don't want/have a boyfriend/girlfriend for whatever reason or aren't getting enough attention from their significant other? It is a form of stress release that most men use and not surprisingly quite a few women. It is much better than a prostitute or cheating on someone. The biggest problem I see is most guy's wives won't compare to a porn star, so what's the point in getting married? This is why feminists are against it because they have lost sexual power over men. Don't want to have sex with me because you're mad at me? I'll find someone on pornhub. However, there is nothing like the real thing, especially those latinas. I digress.

If you really want to quit, you can put an adult filter on your computer, quit masturbating altogether, use your imagination (that can get weird too), take a vacation to Thailand, or find yourself a girlfriend (or two) with a ravenous libido 8) Good luck!

With all due respect mbk734, you obviously have zero understanding of what addiction is.

I am just pointing out that porn/sex/masturbation is not bad, shameful, or evil and there is no reason to be anti-porn. Young men have a high libido. If you're spending hours a day on it, that's another story. Everything in moderation. One man's addiction is another man's hobby. They said in college "enjoy it while it lasts, because after college it's called alcoholism :D "
