worsening insomnia over 7 months

Postby lissitheinsomniac » Thu Aug 02, 2018 8:04 pm

Hei. I struggle with an worsening insomnia the past 7 months where I just sleep less and less and now I only sleep 1-2 hours (with micro awakenings) with medication if I am lucky, some nights no sleep at all, and sometimes I can sleep 4,5 hours. Without zyprexa and Tolvon I can't sleep at all, 0 sleep. Last year I managed to sleep 4 hours without medications and 7-8 hours with medication. I am followed up by a sleep specialist but I am afraid she cant help me because I cant seem to follow the sleep restriction programme because Im too exhausted to get out of bed so I just lay in bed and gets fragmanted periods of dreams lasting couple of seconds and minutes after I wake up the first time. My sleep is totally weird and makes no sense and I really fear I have sporadic fatal insomnia because I had severe personality changes (apathy, quiet most of the time), lot of automonic disturbances (high pulse and feeling stressed out all the time).I am considering to end my life soon because if I stop sleeping altoghetter I know I have sfi and that I would just be tortured to the end. I want to live with dignity and die with it as well. I am just looking for some answers, because I dont know if insomnia can get to this point, sleep less and less without anything physical being wrong. I dont think anxiety can do this alone. And also I get a quota of sleep, like an amount of sleep in which I have to wait to the next night if I am lucky to get like 1-2 hours of sleep toghetter. I am sort of looking for someone who is in a similar situation or hear other stories. can sleeping less and less over 7 months to the point where you dont sleep at all be regular insomnia? I am so confused.

Double-vision does not sound like a common symptom of insomnia. It actually sounds as if something else may be happening now.
Were you actually diagnosed by a physician with insomnia and has it been re-confirmed lately?
I would get in to the primary physician or GP for a complete physical ASAP.
Best of luck to you. :D

Hi, I don't know if this helps at all: I have insomnia all my life. 2-3 hours is my normal without drugs, usually like two hours at night (rather early morning) and maybe a nap at afternoon, if I get a chance. Drugs, if and when they work, might get me anywhere from 4 to 7 hours of sleep (about 5 being my minimum "good sleep" needs)

I don't know about your case. It has been a constant occurance throughout all my life, since I remember myself. It never got better, it gets a bit worse the winter, a bit better on summer, but never had a significant improvement. I know I won't sleep, or if I do, I won't feel well-rested unless I take pill and the pill actually works

I never though to end my own life cause of insomnia personally. Go to a doctor, not sleep specialist, but a neurologist and talk about this. If there is no physical problem, maybe a neurologist can give more insight about the situation

Also check if you sleep better during the morning. As in, don't press yourself at all to sleep at night, go to sleep at 5-6 in the morning and sleep until midday. It has worked for me sometimes in the past and the sleep was good quality. Sleep schedules can randomly change
