Hi sumbes
I am sort of in the same position as you, I don’t think it’s insomnia but sleep deprivation.
Started Jan 2nd, I work in a school so finish at 2pm and I looked after my partners grandfather
who is housebound. I loved this man like he was my own grandfather and 30th of Dec last year
( my birthday actually) phone call from police, there’s been a fire, get round. He had dropped a cigarette at his feet and he basically burnt to death. Burns unit on life support and 3 days of no
Water or usual medication, just heavy sedation, and then he died. I haven’t slept properly since this
Went back to work, no support, to the point I was slurring my words sounding incoherent and rapidly
going down hill. I’ve been suspended as statements are implying I was out of it, was I drinking! Been off 6 weeks now,
Have you ever suffered any of those symptoms before because I may lose my job due to this. I never knew not sleeping properly could cause such problems, I knew I was very tired but not to the extent
I sounded out of it or incoherent?? Doc says I have traumatic grief response.
As far as I know, housing benefit will pay your rent if you rent and council tax. Job seekers is £72 a
week. You need to find out if your insomnia can be classed as a disability? and then you will receive more money to live on. Like you I am terrified I will lose my job, but am hoping they will see it was a reaction to such a traumatic way to die and the injuries were horrific for anyone to see. I have nighmares about it when I do get a bit of sleep and flashbacks to the day and days in the hospital. I am a mess who has been put on antidepressants and may be jobless.
I know how you feel, how can you try to get back to a manable sleep pattern
when being dismissed is hanging over you, this will surely make it worse. I assume they have noticed
but what have they said to you ?
How have other people on here managed work, and is it normal to not function properly through sleep
deprivation ?
