Which sleep aid?

Postby bob222 » Fri Oct 28, 2016 1:15 am

I've recently bought two"natural" sleep aids:
Alteril and Somanpure.
However, in reading "Other Ingredients" I see a lot of ingredients which appear to be chemicals. And if these are supposed to be "Natural" sleep aids, why would they include "chemical" (if they are) ingredients?
Such as: microcrystalline cellulose, Croscarmellose Sodium. Maltodestrin, Carnauba wax. hypromellose, Vegetable magnesium staerate. Silica, Dicalcium phosphate, Polyvinyl Alcohol, Polyethylene Glycol, silicon dioxide, Titanium Dioxide, etc.
I don't know what these are and thought someone on this forum could enlighten me as to whether they are acceptable, as they appear to be in each product and I guess in many other "Natural" sleep aids.
(I phoned Alterial and they said they are used in the 'make-up' of the tablet, but that's all they would say.)
I also have also purchased Valerian root which doesn't have all those "Other Ingredients."

The reason for any of that is because all pills are only a very small, measured amount of any active ingredient- the rest is just filler. This is normal and by design. Cellulose is wood pulp, crosscarmellose sodium is holding the capsle together, etc.

If you did not have these ingredients, you would have a very tiny amount of powder and not a pill. Pills are a man-made invention just like anything else.
