Can't sleep after relocation

Postby cucumber100 » Fri Jul 08, 2016 7:57 pm

Background: 22yo Computer Science student, healthy lifestyle (daily exercises, no drugs / cigarettes / alcohol / fast foods).

In the beginning of July I started internship abroad. It's the first time for me to work abroad and live for my own and it was very stressful to me. Now after first week I calmed down a little, but I still can't sleep.

When I lay in bed I can feel sleepiness approaching me, but at the same time I feel some slight adrenaline rush keeping me awake.
After some time I finally fall asleep, but usually I wake up again in the middle of the night.
Then I lay more, and only fall asleep in the morning, for ~2 hours.

This situation is a catch-22: I'm under pressure to fall asleep because I won't be able to perform at work otherwise (programming job). And this pressure is probably what keeps me awake.

Change of the climate (Spain, hot nights) and uncomfortable bed make it even worse.
What can I do?
Any pills could help?

Thanks!

Today I used Zolpidem for the first time.
Only used 5mg and didn't feel much effect. Today I will try full dose of 10mg.

I hope that helps.

It is impossible for me to sleep anywhere other than my bed (if I manage to sleep at all), like you I will be moving abroad soon and I most likely will have to share the flat or even the room. I am really worried. I have depression and high levels of anxiety. Even thinking about the upcoming move gives me a panic attack.

I hope you can sleep.
