please help at my wits end

Postby khollen » Sun Apr 01, 2007 2:31 pm

my boyfriend is on day four of no sleep. we have tried everything. the doctors have tried him on ambien, trazadone, valium, rozerem, and all the other ones and none of them work. we have tried herbal supplements, chamomille tea, aromatherapy, warm milk, classical music. he suffers from insomnia very frequently but i am running out of things to try. we have tried everything that is listed on the internet. he is on paxil and he has a hard time keeping his mind from racing. can anyone out there recommend something different to try, we are even wondering if it is the paxil doing this to him. please help.

I have had very good success with melatonin. I take 3 mg each night before going to bed. It helps me go back to sleep when I get up in the middle of the night to pee. Before I started taking melatonin I would wake up around 3 a.m. and my mind would not shut up and let me go back to sleep, so I'd get only half my sleep. I have been using it for several years with no ill effects. It is inexpensive and sold over the counter here in the U.S. in the vitamin department. It doesn't make me feel dopy or sluggish as other sleep agents tend to do. It's a naturally occurring hormone. Google it for more details.
From what I have read about Paxil, it can cause insomnia.
