Hey guys
This is something that has affected me for years, and I'm truly fed up with it. As soon as I hit the pillow, I can feel my heartbeat throughout my body, literally vibrating the bed. Infact, I can feel it even when I sit down but it doesn't bother me when I'm awake. It drives me INSANE! I try my very best to ignore it, as I know it's not dangerous or anything, but I'm at the end of my tether! I just want it to go - it will make getting to sleep 100% easier.
I currently take 45mg Mirtazapine for anxiety, depression, and insomnia. As you can guess, I am constantly exhausted from the sedative effects but I still can't get to sleep because of this.
I mentioned it to my doctor who said it's probably something to do with my anxiety and because I'm a small build (lol??). I told him I don't really have many anxious thoughts since CBT and my treatment with Mirtazapine, and my sleep hygeine is very good. It used to keep me awake because I used to worry about all the palpitations, but now that aspect really doesn't bother me and it's more of a nuisance than anything else. He didn't really respond to this.
I wanna maybe try propranolol as I feel like it would make my heart beat less strong, but when I was about 16 I was put on 10mg of it and I blacked out for a few hours.
Anyone have any tips to help this? Anyone experience anything similar?
And please, don't tell me feeling your heartbeat is normal. I KNOW it's normal - it's nice to know I'm alive lol, but not to the point where my bed is vibrating and it keeps me awake every single night. I really need a break from it, so any useful tips would be great.
