I believe I have cracked the code, folks.
Sleep is a physical activity. Treat it as such.
Exercise - especially lifting weights (this may or may not be true for females due to the difference in body chemistry) every day gets the body in the proper chemical alignment.
Temperature - cool yourself down prior to laying down and sleep in a cool/cold room. Opt for a sheet only. Use a blanket only after you are actually feeling cold.
Food - eat a satisfying meal of mostly carbs (I Know, I know - we're supposed to hate carbs. F that, I love them). My favorite pre bedtime meal is a big bowl of cereal.
Forget the mental tricks and counting nonsense. Its the body that sleeps. The mind is a product of the body, anyway.
