the Best Way To Cure Sleep Insomnia

Postby lordcenturion » Tue Apr 28, 2015 1:15 am

Hey everyone!

I want to help out all my fellow insomniacs and share how I managed to beat this illness. You have to follow these 12 rules for it to work, trust me.

1) no naps: makes you less likely to fall asleep at night

2) go to bed when sleepy not just tired

3) wake up everyday for a week at the same hour: This will help the body to make you tired at the adequate time.

4) do nothing in bed except sleep and sex

5) Get up and do something when you can't sleep

6) Reduce or eliminate the pills

7) Stop Clock watching

8) Emergency thought: to help you fight the negativity that comes with insomnia

9) Let go of the search for a miracle cure

10) meditate 2 times a day, morning and evening and workout 30min a day.

11) safety thought: positive affirmations to teach you to see the bright side of things

12) Put your life before your insomnia: Eventually you have to get to a point where sleep is just not at the forefront of your life. People who sleep well never think about, they just go to sleep and that's it.

These 12 rules come from my own experience and Sacha Stephens an authority on the subject. I assure you it's simple but it works.

Read my article if you really want to understand what you need to do.

I have been suffering chronic Insomnia for over 10 years, tried many things to help - except sleeping tabs. I read through the list and can mark off many things, for me i just cannot switch the brain off. I get exhausted at about 5.30-6pm but unfortunately for me i can't go to bed at that time. I then wouldnt be tired til near midnight. For me - nothing seems to work for me. I'm physically active (injuries n all) but that doesnt seem to tire me out... for me i average about 2-4 hrs broken sleep each night, 24/7. Suggestions?

Maybe those things work for people that have sporadic sleep problems, or just poor quality sleep, but they do get to sleep every day most days. For those that, like myself, have been insomniacs almost all their lives, since kids, it's unlikely any of this will help much. It's all too theoretical and, really the only thing that actually works with insomnia, is pills (and that not even always, just has some chances to get you to get some sleep).

I don't nap, I can't stay in bed if I am awake, I work out, I wake up the same hour daily when I have a morning job, etc. I need about 5 hours sleep/day and I am lucky when I get 2 or 3. 1h or no sleep at all is very common to me and can go on for days. And ofc my life, just like everyone else's, *does* depend on getting enough sleep daily, so ofc insomnia is gonna affect my life, there's no way to "put life before sleep"

Ofc people can give a try to your advice too. I guess for someone who has had sleep problems for some few months due to stress or something, all that might work. For chronic insomniacs though, I think sleeping pills is the only answer.
