** Developed Insomnia back in March 2014 ***

Postby bpAgent86 » Sat Apr 18, 2015 11:27 pm

Hello all,

I am so thankful to find a forum like this as I know I'm not alone in this struggle...

Let me try and remember how everything started for me...

Currently a 44 year old male...very active in weightlifting and tennis...and try to eat pretty clean...

Up until March of 2014 I've always been one of those individuals who could lay down in bed and be asleep within 5 minutes flat, and wouldn't wake up until I needed to...(those days seem SO LONG AGO)

Then something happened and I can't figure it out....

The 1st or 2nd week in March 2014 I developed full out insomnia...

During these first few weeks my mind felt like it was racing, I would feel heart palpitations, I had like the super intense hot flashes, I would break out into a cold sweat (and soak the sheets completely). This went on it seems like a couple months...I was a walking zombie at times...

This was also during a time when I was playing tennis singles competitively...and it's hard to explain but I would never physically feel worn out or tired. I know what it feels like to be physically exhausted but that was now missing.... It was almost like something was switched off in my body to not feel this anymore...

About this same exact time I started getting these mosquito-like bites on my body...never more than 3-4 at a time...and each one would last anywhere from a day to 3 days. These bumps were pretty intense too, they itched extremely when I would start. (still continues to this day)

It got a little better but I've NEVER been able to sleep through the night now no matter what I take.

About 4 months ago the muscle twitches appeared. Noting drastic but just small muscle twitches all over body.

I really never get headaches except maybe a few times a year. Am able to gain or lost weight when I want. Can still muscle....but still never seem to get physically tired like I used to...

I've tried various natural remedies (herbal tea's, 5-HTP, taurine, etc...) that seem to help sometimes but it never compares to before...

I've had I think extensive blood/hormone work and everything comes back in flying colors. I've had a sleep study done (to rule out sleep apnea, and restless leg syndrome) and the neurologist just simply thinks it's psychosomatic insomnia.

But none of the doctors I've visited over the past year seem to take this as serious as I want them too...

There's got to be some connection between all of these new symptoms I didn't have before:

1. The rash-like bites I described above
2. Insomnia
3. Loss feeling physically tired or "beat down" when pushing myself physically

I really feel like something is disconnected in my brain, and it's hard to explain....

Unfortunately my wife just thinks it's stress and doesn't seem too concerned that it could be something larger at work...

I've probably left out a lot of details but just wanted to put this out there....

As of right now, I can fall asleep but wake up like every hour and never seem to hit that deep sleep (cycles 3 and 4)

Looking forward to talking with other people...

Hi bpAgent86,

I used to suffer from insomnia for years, the doctors didn't help me either. I managed to cure my insomnia though and I think I can help you.

I'm no doctor but it looks to me that you have been pushing yourself too much and you've sort of burned out and your body had to deaden itself to keep going, to not feel the exhaustion. That explains the loss of feeling as well.

Ok if that is the case do these 3 things:

1) meditate 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening using Roy master's guided meditation:*mod edit- commercial link removed*

2) Put your alarm clock at the same time everyday and put it away from your bed so as to force you to get up.

3) Go to bed when you feel sleepy not just tired, it doesn't matter at what time just go to bed when you FEEL like sleeping.

There are other tricks, I wrote an article about it I can send it to you if you want but with these 3 simple steps your quality of sleep will DRAMATICALLY improve.

Keep me updated and ask me questions anytime you want.

Take care
