i think im an insomniac....

Postby nola » Sun Sep 24, 2006 8:06 pm

ive never really thought about it but, as im on this site as i have conversion disorder, i saw this forum and thought i would ask.

my symptoms are that it takes me hours to get to get to sleep, normally falling asleep around 3am. i wake up about every hour, normally because of vivid dreams and wake up about 9am. i feel like i could fall asleep easily during the day but to try and sort out my sleep pattern i make sure i dont. i cant sleep at all if it is pitch black and silent. i am on medication which can supposedly make me sleepy but it doesnt make me fall asleep! (im on tramadol, paracetmol and clonazepam if that helps) i have very little energy and can never get my thoughts together. this happens every day and night and has done for over a year. does it sound like i have insomnia?

anyones views, symptoms or advice is much appreciated.

thank you x

Well it does kinda sound like it! A doctor would probably be able to tell you better than I could though! :)
Although I don't fall asleep as late as you (for me its usually between 1 & 2 am), it's been a recurring pattern since childhood, so I think i may have insomnia - however i've looked it up a bit on the net and it can vary from person to person as to what the symptoms & exact details are. but to me, it sounds like you having insomnia is a possibility

Right now, as you read this, does it amount to anything more than a collection of thoughts and memories which are just transitory, and come and go in the mind like clouds in the sky? --

Hi pal,

Here's a tip to help you sleep better, get a flat piece of magnet, south pole facing up, and put it under your pillow when you sleep, such that the magnet is directly below your head. I tried this and I slept like a log for a whole week, but the effect wore off after that, I guess its because the magnet lost its strength.

If that doesn't work, try orientating your bed in a north/south direction and sleep with your head pointing north. It did'nt work for me, but it might for you.

rgds,

So magnetism affects your brain? As in sleep-wise? Now THAT is extremely interesting..... Magnetism...eh....?
Thanks for the info Bobdog!
