Behavioral Medicine treatments for Sleep Problems

Postby laxyhead » Thu Jun 08, 2006 3:47 am

Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum, but I was wondering if anyone here has ever tried behavioral medicine treatments to their sleep problems. Like sleep restriction, cognitive behavioral therapy, and other behavioral modification techniques.

Just wondering if anyone has had good or bad experiences with these treatments. I've been hearing that most people take medication, but then get off them and continue to fight the insomnia on their own. If you have tried these treatment, what worked or didn't work for you?

Has anyone ever seen a psychologist to address their stress and anxiety problems and how they are related to sleep?

I am a student interested in sleep medicine and I'd like to learn more about insomnia. Thanks for your help!
