Hi! I have a few questions maybe this forum can help me with. Which kind of therapist do I need to talk to about my hypochondriasis? A phsychiatrist or psychologist? I am so tired of living my life this way. I am only 24 and all of my co-workers, friends and family make fun of me. I constantly am convincing myself that I there is something wrong and it has now gotten to the point where I can't sleep at night. I want it to go away. What is the cause of hypochondriasis anyway? I can't pinpoint an exact time when I started feeling this way. Please help!

Hey, I know exactly how you feel. Tommorow I am going to go down to my clinic and demand an MRI of my brain, because I am conviced I have a tumor.
If I don't.. I'm going to see a psychiatrist. I would advise a psychiatrist because they are much more highly trained than a psychologist. But, I coudl be biased, being that I am a medical student. A psychiatrist can also prescribe medication, whereas a psychologist cannot, because they are not a 'physician'.
