Boy, affecting your depression, I can't tell you for sure. I'm only 22, but I can't remember exactly what kinds of thoughts I was having just a few years ago. I mean, a lot of the time I like to look at someone else's point of view, if they are exactly like yours or similar, well yea I just don't know. I would kinda agree that it has to do with maturing in a sense, but yea I'm not sure what to tell you here.
Self-esteem, I mean I'm sure I can find a way to link all that together if you gave me time, I'd rather not though. If you don't have a lot of confidence, do something that can build that up if it's a problem. Meaningfully build it up, don't put others down to accomplish that. For me, learning things does that, figuring out intricate details, along those lines. The solution most people have is to just "think big, and you'll be big", but I think that gives yourself a false sense of, ego I guess, leads to superiority which no one really is superior. Accomplish something, however small or big it is, as long as it's something you can be proud that you did.
