Advices wanted!

Postby Tweety » Mon May 19, 2008 6:22 pm

Hello every body.

I am new here. The reason I am here it's I want some advices. Maybe some of you can help me.

I have a mother who thinks that the whole world is against her. She believes:
- Some one came to her house when she is not home and mess up with her furnitures.
- When she meets troubles at work, she blames some one has set her up.
- She believes some one has poisoned her when she has headache, got the flu, tooth ache...you name it.

The worse is she blames every one in the family.

Everything she believes has no root and the stories depend on her mood.

Any advices?

Thank you!

Hi,

Does she realise that this is a problem?; and has she always been like this? There are a few reasons why people become paranoid about everything around them. One such thing is Schizophrenia, but there is probably a simpler explanation than that in this case. For example, if we are depressed (and have been for a while), our reality perception can become distorted and we can feel paranoid about everything around us.

Hello

She may have been like that since I was born. But I only noticed it since 95.

The worse part is she doesn't see it as a problem. She thinks every one has problem but not her. Yes, she is paranoid about everything. She worries too much. She thinks the world is not fair to her. And every one is treating her unfairly.

We have explained to her that she is only paraonid. No one is hurting her. But she refuses to listen and keep going in that track.

I can't force her to go to see a therapist, since she doesn't realize that she got a problem.

Every one here is so exhausted because of her. We can't leave her alone either. It will make things worse.

I am very thankful for any advice I can get from you.

Hi again,

What age is she? If she's elderly, I'm just thinking that it might point to something like Alzheimer's or Dementia. If she's middle-aged or younger, then I really cannot think of anything other than depression. I don't know - I guess her age is an important factor here.

Take care,
Kevin
