Hello good people of this wonderful forum. My name is Qasem, I am from Jordan. I've had interest in psychiatry for quite a long time. I am currently a GP, but looking to specialize in psychiatry soon. I honestly am not here to judge people or use them as guinea pigs...All I want is to truly understand where my future patients are coming from, and not just dispense medications like many psychiatrists do. I myself have been mentally unstable for a long time. I went through periods of dysthemia, and was diagnosed about a year ago with GAD and a moderate case of social phobia. I am getting better now, and I aim to try to make people get better with as little medications as possible. I want to be the kind of psychiatrist who understands his patients and actually listen to them instead of being a drug dealer. Some people had traumatic experiences with psychiatrists, and I can understand. That's why I wanna get involved with real people in here, and not just be buried in books and rounds.
Thank you.
