Hope when everything's bout utilitarianism n instrumentalism

Similar to how someone could leavea funeral really still grief-ridden and "drown themselves" in Nietzche and become more pessimistic as a result,I have trouble with life b/c EVERYTHING and anything seems so reducible to these two philosophical concepts:

utilitarianism

the ethical doctrine that virtue is based on utility, and that conduct should be directed toward promoting the greatest happiness of the greatest number of persons.

and

instrumentalism

the variety of pragmatism developed by John Dewey, maintaining that the truth of an idea is determined by its success in the active solution of a problem and that the value of ideas is determined by their function in human experience.

The reasons why ppl are greedy,the world is unjust,cruelty manifests with no hesitance and why exploitation,killing,Sybaritism and destruction in the most sordid forms come to be,manifest,justify and perpetuate themselves ALL seem to boil down to those two "forces" @_@, >~< .

How can I or anyone else ever believe and have hope when those two concepts will pop up and destroy a being without a flinch?.
