Insecure not standing firm

How/when does one know how they feel about something and when to speak up about it? I mean if I have a general idea but am not sure should I just wait awhile to make sure? Trying to sort out my feelings/emotions without being manipulative or without trying to overly please someone else is extremely difficult. I just am not sure where I stand. Is this something others do naturally or do we all battle with standing on our own firm ground? I feel like a weeble people when it comes to having a firm set of standards or beliefs. Who am I and what do I want?!

normajean,

I think that a good rule of thumb would be to wait. If you still feel the same way after a few days about the situation, then you should say how you feel.
I don't know the situation, but usually a first reaction isn't so much manipulative, nor overly appeasing, but more upset/defensive and shock/happiness.
Still if you're not sure what the appropriate reaction is to a situation, sleep on it for a day or two, ask yourself again how you feel about it, then make a decision.

Hope that helps.

Stars! Thank you! I listened to you and the feeling passed. Sorry for being vague. It's always in relationships with men. I wonder if years of watching my parents fight confounds me on when to leave and stay, that combined with my personal insecurities makes it almost impossible to make firm decisions when it comes to men. How can I get away from that?! I need a handbook! I feel as if I'm chasing my own tail these days!
