Step Daughters Mom has HPD

Postby stepmom85 » Mon Apr 12, 2010 8:53 pm

I was hoping someone on the site can help me better understand the relationship mothers with HPD have with their children, especially daughters.

My 8 year old step daughter lives with us full time as her mother has HPD. She sees her bio mom twice a month through supervised visitation. It has been years since the visits were not supervised and years since daughter was in her care.

I am trying to understand the relationship they have. All I can see is lots of tears and heart breaks for my step daughter. I just want to hear from others who have come from a home with a parent with this disorder, and how they percieved things, etc.

Thanks in advance if you can help.

You might find this site amusing, if not exactly comforting: http://www.thepsychoexwife.com/
(The PEW in question is borderline, bipolar, or both - but many of the behaviours are similar.)

There are a couple of people on this site who have histrionic mothers. Hopefully they'll answer, since they can post with authority on the subject.
