Hey EZ,
I can relate when you say that when you are in some kind of relationship with an HPD (in my case it was a romantic one), you end up to be always "on the edge". Indeed, this is commonly called as the experience of "walking on eggshells".
Truly, one of the biggest life lessons given by these experiences is that they teach us to affirm our boundaries, keep our mental sanity a priority and help us to detect when a person has some personality disorder (or disordered traits) and take the appropriate counter-actions.
