The human world... it's a mess. Life under the sea is better than anything they got up there.

An interesting question, but personally I don't know.

What I will write is in terms of what attracts people to each other (keeping in mind that HPD is a disorder that has a strong component of attention seeking to mask painful emotions), we people tend to be more attracted to optimism in others than we are in pessimism.

I think you would need to elaborate the word optimistic.

But I guess so.

I think also narcissists and psycopaths tend to be optmistic. Psycopaths due to narcissism probrably. But in that case I use optimistic as assuming good thing will happen and ignoring potential threats, they are cocky or over confident to use a more precise word.

Now histrionics have a trait commom to schizotypals of being day dreamers, and a tendency to be poetic, believing things that are better instead of more probable or likely, or truth. In this way histrionics may differ from psycopaths and narcissists(although narcissists and psycopaths can be also histrionic)

I know that both narcissistic PD and histrionic PD are linkened to hypomania. I know hypomania and optimism are not the same, but they are related. But at Millon taxonomy only some histrionics are considered what he calls Vivacious Histrionics.

HPDs also tend to readily use any 'off-the-shelf' belief system to assuage their anxieties, things like Astrology, fortune telling, etc...

So while others may be less optimistic as they take a more realistic approach, HPDs can be easily assured that everything will be all right further supported by their high suggestibility.

I think this is exactly where schizotypal and histrionic PD, become one. Both have the tendency to believe in what is good, instead of what is real.

But I wouldnt doubt that this tendency is even stronger among histrionics.

I have to agree with this. I am not HPD but I have a sister who is HPD, and I believe in a way she projects an image of optimistic, and I also think that she never thinks that things can go wrong so i believe that she kind of engages in risky behavior.

However, i am not sure if it is optimism, or inability to be aware of risks.....
