Is there a link between HPD and early childhood sexual abuse? I don't remember having been abused, but the more time I spend on psychforums I find I have experiences I can share in many different conversation threads...
HPD
Night terrors
Alcohol and narcotic abuse
low self esteem and periodic depression...
and I've long wondered if I carry repressed memory of early childhood abuse. My councillor suggests that my behaviours are indicative of trauma, but we aren't really exploring what those trauama may have been (except to have talked about bad relationships with bad men, the split of my parents, etc). He says that what it was isn't necessary to understand, that we can move forward with creating healthy thoughts, attitudes and habits.
I remember building a wall around my bed with books sometimes before sleep when I was very very young. Maybe around the same time my night terrors started.
Is there any research or personal experiences people might be able to share about childhood sexual abuse and HPD?
