I've dug up an old thread here but I wonder whether it's right that people are so easy to label celebrities with this disorder. We don't know how celebrities act in private for one thing - could it not just be that they have some histrionic traits? I don't get why Christina Aguilera seems histrionic either.

Was Princess Diana seriously diagnosed HPD? I've never seen that in the British press before - could be the case though. All I know for a fact was that she had bulimia - I saw her admit that in a BBC interview at the time she was separated from Prince Charles. That could be down to another disorder though or indeed she may not even have had a personality disorder at all! From the little I know of HPD it doesn't seem like she acted in an HPD fashion in her relationship with him. It's not like she targeted him with abuse and then dropped him - as far as I know, their marriage mainly broke down due to her finding out (at an early stage) that he was still having his affair with Camilla. I think that when she married him as a young girl, she did hope they were going to live "happily ever after" (as it were) though. It's only after it broke down that she started seeing various men.

It's likely that most of these celebrities do have some kind of psychological problem but it also appears that sometimes people see a few suspect behaviours and jump to conclusions. In some cases could it not be that they might just have become conceited and egotistical due to their status in society? That can obviously cause "diva-like" problems on its own.

I don't know of any of you are football fans but I am beginning to wonder if the famous Dallas Cowboys receiver Terell Owens is Histrionic

He has to go out of his way to keep the media spotlight on him. He says some of the most outrageous things to get media attention. He has been on 3 teams, and on each one the same thing happens:

Initially, he idolizes the quarterback, praises him to the press, will defend them if they lose, even cried for one when the press criticized his play...just appears almost I dare say lovestruck

Then he feels jilted(various reasons) by them and begins to lash out...which usually erupts into a full blown smear campaign

In san francisco- devalued quarterback Jeff Garcia by first stating that he could not really play at the pro level, said he threw like a girl, and then accussed him of being gay. Funny cause at the time Garcia was engaged to a playmate

Traded to Philidelphia- At first loved quarteback Donovan Mcnabb even saying they are like brothers. Made it to the super bowl but lost. Then shortly after started a character assasination stating that Mcnabb was not a leader, and secretly hated his teamates. Split the team in half and caused such a disruption that he was kicked off the team and trespassed off of the property

Dallas takes a chance on him. Head Coach Bill Parcells and him develop strained relationship. Owens is underperforming and the press is questioning his abilities. Calls to 911 from his house and he claims to have taken vicodin and wants to die. Police and paramedics arrive and he is taken to hospital. Owens later denies suicide, claims it was an honest 'mixup'. Police report says different...

Head coach leaves after first season with him. Owens claims his quarterback Tony Romo (who dates Jessica Simpson) is super bowl caliber and even cries at a press conference when a reporter questioned his quarterbacks leadership

Now this week ESPN reports that Owen has become jealous over qb Romo's relationship with another cowboy receiver. Owens tells media they are conspiring against him to not throw him the ball. Owens demands a meeting with the other receivers and coach, but refuses to include Romo and other cowboys receiver

Drama drama drama.... mix in alot of manipulation, blameshifting, suicidal gestures, smear campaign, false accusations and I could go on and on,,,not to mention he has that reptillian stare that is often spoke of...

I have no way of knowing if he is HPD or not, but I know crazed behavior when I see it

and it makes me wonder...

Do H's like partying with other H's?

Postby Chinatown Charlie » Sat Aug 29, 2009 12:37 pm

I've spent my life partying trying to find people like me.

Nons are dull, but if you're paying they can come up to the mark for a while, but $#%^ when I meet a similar, H, N or B -like, the night starts.

I'm a guy and I never have rivalry issues with other H or Ns, only with the dull Nons trying to drag it back to basics. AAAHGHHH them, it always panics me when they want to go home, or eat or play pool or go bowling or play darts.

The more rockets, the better, and pulling-rivalry is just not an issue, it's ALWAYS 'you first, mate' with us, because there are always more. The Nons chat up the girls, you hang back and can hot-knife-through-butter later and it pisses them off but they know the score.

Seriously. Don't know about girls, but I reckon they've got it even easier.

Asshole? Diagnosed, but just wanted to clear up the 'do they like hanging together' issue. Answer: 'YES!'

I'm an actor, and a handful of the actors are H, N, some are B. Pack instinct, best fun ever.

And if worst comes to worst we just do each other anyway. Often. And no questions asked the next day, unlike the histrionics of the 'victims'. They aren't victims, we fell in love, and they stopped it by saying something triggering that got them dumped.

Why are you witch hunting?

The more people you can find with HPD, the better you will feel?

What about the people with HPD? Does it make them feel better?

You say that dramatic types pd people are selfish: You are.

You're demonising them, whitewashing yourself, as if you're talking Good and Evil.

You want to diagnose sick people with the tools of good and evil?

That makes who's sick and who evil?

Move on. We get it. You can spot an H now? So date a non H.

You want revenge? Come into my parlour.

PLEASE REASSURE ME THAT YOU AREN'T DEMONISING THIS DISORDER

I already have a devil complex, I'm trying to get rid of the damn thing.

WIth love and hope,

Charlie

Just saw the movie TOTAL ECLIPSE

Leo di Caprio playing French poet ARTHUR RIMBAUD

Beautiful. But then all supposition outside his therapy is aggression, so sorry, Arthur, but welcome to the gang. great reading, eg, from Hellish Night:

Listen...!

I've got all the talents!— There's no one here and there's someone: I wouldn't want to waste my treasure.—Do you want afrcian songs, houri dances? Do you want me to disappear, to dive down for the ring? Do you want that? I'm going to make gold. . . remedies.

Then have faith in me, faith is soothing, it guides, it cures. Come, all of you—even the little children—and I'll comfort you, I'll spill out my heart for you,—the marvelous heart!—Poor men, workers! I don't ask for your prayers. With your trust alone, I'll be happy.

—And what about me? All of this doesn't make me miss the world much. I'm lucky not to suffer more. My life was nothing but lovely mistakes, it's too bad.

Bah! let's make every possible ugly face.

We're out of the world, for sure. Not even a sound. My touch has disappeared. Ah, my castle, my Saxony, my willow woods. Evenings, mornings, nights, days. . . I'm worn out!

I should have my hell for anger, my hell for conceit—and the hell of caresses: a concert of hells.

I'm dying of tiredness. It's the grave, horror of horrors, I'm going to the worms! Satan, you joker, you want to melt me down with your charms. I demand it, I demand it! a poke of the pitchfork, a drop of fire. Ah, to come back to life again! To feast my eyes on our deformities.
