The teacher that was recently involved in a sex scandal with a boy also fits the Histrionic Personality Disorder I would say.

Here are some traits I noticed in Deborah Lafave when watching an MSNBC program on her...

1. Extremely beautiful which most HPD's are and is said in the literature that HPD's seem to be unique in the personality disorders for this being often always the case with all HPD's.
2. Good show of false maturity with the interviewer ie the facade of normalcy an HPD can put on for a casual aquaintance but when they played phone conversations with her she became like a little girl when talking to the boy and sounded so in love in a childlike little girl way with giggling and general acting over the top silly and dramatic which of course is another big characteristic of HPD.
3. Tons of makeup.
4. Extremely inappropriate relationship and ill advised hedonism ie she had sex with the boy in her classroom and engaged in a relationship with him despite it being so inappropriate for her being older and in an authority figure position not to mention it being against the law.
5. Depression. Seems to go with HPD or be caused by it.
6. Not thinking things through. Just going with how she felt in the moment.
7. Dependant on her sister to give her a sense of stability. Dependant personality disorder seems to be a subtype of HPD.

The list could go on but yeah I think you all get the point. ;)

Myself and another poster. Zander I think it was had a big discussion here a few posts back about what the first one really was and I at first was thinking only BPD but he convinced me she is also HPD.

1. Courtney Love
4. Robin Williams

haha biggest histrionic celebrities ever

wait WHAT?! robin williams?! what?! he doesn't have HPD! he just has a very developped sense of humor :) i honestly don't consider him to have HPD at all.. robBIE williams, on the other hand, is an extremely obvious HPD sufferer

Neither do I zander. :)

Read that post over again. ;)

I only think Courtney Love is the full on HPD/BPD case whereas the other ones I mentioned seemed to have the healthy histrionic personality style. 8)

I've been a longtime fan of his music and ya know for some reason it never crossed my mind but remembering a MTV or VH1 special on his life and troubles in it he certainly seems like he could be an HPDer too zander. :P

I think it's silly to imagine we really know a celebrity. Narcissism is in the American media a bit these last weeks. There was some kinda little study done by some fellow who intereviewed celeb's that would appear on a radio show-w/a questionnaire - whatever...but they said that there's no correlation between celebs and NPDs. I highly doubt that. I think at least strong NPD traits are required to stand up to WORLD scrutiny..I mean can you imagine your face printed on a mag with your a comment that is a total embarasssment or a lie? I never thought much about how I would really feel since celebs seem unreal to me- people that are so driven to the limelight don't interest me- I feel they would never be content w/me as a friend or lover bcause they need TONS of adulation..not just a bit here and there. They become their 'persona'- anyways

have any of you watched the HBO series " 6 ft. Under "? man- my friend just sent me the dvds for season 5 to watch and Brenda ?....her mother ? Billy - off the charts ..and off his lithium for now !

I couldn't agree more. I was surprised to see that she got tagged with the Bipolar disorder. I don't know why that one seems so popular a diagnosis these days. I haven't really studied that one at all, but it seems to me she was a screaming histrionic.

I had to laugh at her interview, the games, mannerisms everything was just so classic HPD. I loved the outfit she wore on the interview to talk about her statutory rape of the young boy. She dresses up like a stripper(great way to look innocent on TV), but you know what they say, A dog is going to bark, that's just what they do.

I was really suprised that she was diagnosed as a depressive when she was younger, it makes me think that too many psychologists don't have much experience or training to spot a Cluster B disorder.

who i think is hpd

Postby soulsearch » Thu Oct 12, 2006 9:44 pm

i think (just my opinion) that the real soul of an hpd can be seen thru their eyes. i think many women in the film industry can appear to behave like histrionics, but, i think it's more the enviroment they are interacting in.

example: what/how they are encouraged to act/behave. prime example: paris hilton. i don't know if i believe her to be an hpd. correct me if i'm wrong. i think she is more an npd who behaves like an hpd. i don't think madonna is an hpd or nicole ritchie is either. i think they are just spoiled npd's. npd's who take on the physical actions/behavoiurs of an hpd --- due to surroundings/circumstance.

marilyn monroe (in my eyes) is the quintessentail example of an hpd. if you look into her eyes you can see it is not just surface behaviour. it is enveloping her entire being.

others i think are: princess diana, anne heche, tammy faye baker, angelina jolie, star jones, pamela anderson, christina aguilera, anna nicole smith.
