death of someone you love/barely know

i heard this news
bomb killed some ppl in boston marathon,
and when I read that I was so 'relieved' that my bf in Boston was fine
and after a few seconds i felt guilty.
to feel positive feeling when some ppl (Even though I don't know them) died!
I feel like all this human attachment etc are kind of weird.
I always felt so.
Like, when some ppl in your country dies you are 100 level sad, but same number of ppl in another continent dies for same reason you are like 1 level sad....

I feel like humans, should be able to love everyone more equally...
