They are needed for muscle building. Muscles contain huge amounts of protein.

It's usually athletes that use protein powders.

Don't overdo it though. Too much protein is bad for your health.

Some people do suggest that too much protein in the diet CAN actually make you put on weight. High protein diets also tend to give you tiredness and bad breath.

I take powder now and then because I don't tend to consume much protein via meat or legumes or whatever. That and it's chocolate flavoured which kind of tastes good now and then...

protein powders are used when you dont ingest enough through food. that is the only physiological condition when they are absolutely needed. other than that, in some kidney diseases you have a large daily protein loss and you have to add from powders, but also too much protein can damage the kidneys so all depends on the condition. if you are healthy and have a normal diet, use protein powders only after training if you havent ingested enough protein on that current day, they are expensive and no need to waste them when you dont need to. although they are generally harmless unless you ingest WAY too much (like...over 5g/kg for example for a longer period of time, in which case byebye kidneys)

At the point when people need to put on or drop weight rapidly and moreover when people don't keep up their eating routine so they use protein powder or supplements.

Very true... I did that for about a year and after doing some blood work, I found my kidney metabolites very high and I has severe fatty liver (protein power induces and insulingenic response). I have since cut down to only taking power after exercise and now I only have mild fatty liver (took 4 months)
