You know, around our age, it may feel like we are heartless, but in all reality, deep down we do care, believe it or not.
Wow, sounds a lot like what happened to my aunt! My aunt was drunk and on her way home when she was going around a turn she ended up cutting over onto the other side of the road, very gradually, and hit a bunch of trees. Was killed at the scene. Like I said, if you want to talk to someone, especially someone your age that knows what it's like, feel free to e-mail me or add me to messenger.

Zippy, sorry you feel depressed. It sounds to me like you have "survivor's guilt." I have been reading all year about narcissism, which is excessive admiration of oneself, self-centeredness, selfishness. In adults it can become a pathological disorder (that's another forum). The good news for teenagers is that narcissim is a NORMAL part of development. When you start actually feeling other people's pain, that is empathy. If people never develop empathy, they stay stuck as adolescent narcissists.

Although the grief of your friend's loss is hard to handle, you have already shown that you can share your feelings about it and can sympathize with others' losses. That is maturity in the making. Be glad about that. As for the "life sucks" feeling, at your age that is NORMAL, too. It does get better as you mature. I have a feeling that someday you will be a GREAT FRIEND. :)
