My dog died today..

We just had to put down my dog.. She was 13. The vet told me not a week ago that she was healthy. Clearly, she didn't know ****.

She was coughing up blood for the past two days, and could hardly breathe. I was petting her for a long while before the vet put her to sleep.

This all happened about twenty minutes ago.. I'm extremely sad she's gone, and I'm going to be so lonely without her.

Screenman, sorry to hear about your dog. Sounds like you may have been unfortunate with the vet you saw regarding your dog. To be told one week that your dog is healthy and then less than a week later she is coughing up blood, seems the vet may have missed something. Unfortunately, as she was an elderly dog, something could have happened in the time between her seeing the vet, and her sudden demise.

I hope you have lots of happy memories of the time you spent with her, and can smile when you think of the better times you had with her.

I'm sorry for your loss Screenman. I hope your grieving doesn't last too long and you can focus on putting the good memories of your dog permanently in you heart, as you journey on in life. Although you are in pain, I am glad to hear she lived a long life and i imagine that life was a good one, filled with love. That is all we can hope for in this life - people too.

Thank you guys for your kind words. I still miss her, but I've stopped crying. The only thing that gets me teary eyed is thinking about the last time I pet her before my mom drove away with her body. For some reason, the fact that she didn't breathe when I pet her was horribly sad. She usually exhaled deeply when I would rub her stomach.. The fact that she didn't still sets me off.

Sorry for that.. Got lost in my emotions and needed to write those things.
