To My Mom 1936-2008

Postby Pamela65 » Wed Jun 11, 2008 8:32 pm

I wasn't able to visit her grave on her birthday. I find a lot of my feelings in songs. This song was written by David Gates of the group Bread. I know it may seem like a love song, but it was a song he wrote about his father's death. I know these things because I'm a huge Bread fan and even named my daughter after one of their songs.

Anyway, I wanted to do something to honor her and right now, I think this is the best I can do, tell the world how I felt and ask you all to pay special attention to the next to last verse.

Thanks,
Pam

You sheltered me from harm.
Kept me warm, kept me warm
You gave my life to me
Set me free, set me free
The finest years I ever knew
Were all the years I had with you

I would give anything I own,
Give up me life, my heart, my home.
I would give everything I own,
Just to have you back again.

You taught me how to love,
What its of, what its of.
You never said too much,
But still you showed the way,
And I knew from watching you.
Nobody else could ever know
The part of me that cant let go.

I would give anything I own,
Give up me life, my heart, my home.
I would give everything I own
Just to have you back again.

Is there someone you know,
You're loving them so,
But taking them all for granted.
You may lose them one day,
Someone takes them away,
And they don't hear the words you long to say

I would give anything I own,
Give up me life, my heart, my home.
I would give everything I own
Just to have you back again.

I love you Momma!!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up,totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO" what a ride!"

Hey, Pam! That's a beautiful song. It's a very nice way to honor your mom.
