headaches and weight gain

Postby momof2 » Mon Nov 21, 2005 7:44 pm

Ok well I have been on prozac and clonazepam for almost a year now and have had these re-ecurrent headaches; I am not sure if they are migraines starting or from my meds.

Also my meds have been assessed and gone up and down in dosage and the thing is I keep gaining weight.

I have been exercising (running a mile a day) watching my diet and still gaining weight. In the past year I have gained a total of 35lbs
:(... Is this my meds??? Is there a better medication for me to take so I can lose this weight and still deal with my anxiety..etc.

I am getting so frustrated upset and depressed with this whole situation that I don't know what to do anymore. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

The clonazepam I doubt would be causing the weight gain, as for the prozac I don't know that is something to ask your doctor about.

The meds as a side effect could be contributing to the headaches, it also depends how long you have been on them etc. Also something to run by your doctor or pharmacist I think.

How often do you get the mirgraines?

I have never got migraines before I was put on my meds. I am getting them now about 2-3 times a month and they last 2-3 days.

I wish there was answer to the weight gain but for some reason I feel I will never find that answer unless I come off my meds; which is physically impossible cause then I would end up in the psych ward.

Well thanks for the quick response.

Since i've started prozac, i've also gained around 35 lbs. my doctor says that thats not whats causing it, but i haven't changed anything in my life except the meds, so i'm not so sure.

well..the problem you have mentioned may well be due to the medications you are taking. Though I'm not an expert best if you contact a doctor. By the way you may use this forum www.globalthreads.com to know about lots of disease/health and drug related discussions.
