is this an anxiety attack?

Postby manateesrule » Thu Aug 18, 2005 4:51 am

:? Is this an anxiety attack? Twice I have had this attack in the last 4 months. It felt like my arms were going to sleep and then my arms, legs, hands, feet and stomach contracted or cramped and I could not move anything until the attack was over, which lasted no more than 5 mins. Before the last attack my heart was racing. I was running really late for an apptointment. I don't know if that had anything to do with it or not. I was driving and had to pull over. I have been having difficulty in discoving what the cause is. Hopefully someone can help me. Thank you for any info.

From what you've mentioned symptom wise, it does sound like you've had an anxiety attack... all those symptoms you described can be anxiety or panic.

I've had all of them before.

Anxiety can numb any part of your body which is scary because then you think of the worse possible cause.

Cold hands and feet and not being able to get a breath is also anxiety. It happens to me quite a bit. chances are you wont faint, not everyone faints from anxiety or panic but it does occur in some people. I've been suffering from anxiety & panic since 1996 and never ever passed out.

Just need to relax, remind yourself what it is, acknowledge it and then do something to relax yourself or try to do something to keep busy.
