They are all the same thing: Fluoxetine Hydrochloride. The 'HCl' part is the chemical formula for 'Hydrochloride' - i.e. a Hydrogen (H) & Chlorine (Cl) atom combined.

'HCI' is actually HCl (small 'L').

In any case, it is an SSRI (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) that is used to treat depression. Another SSRI (which I take) is Lexapro.

thx for clearing that up for me, also is alchohal safe while on any anti depressent? just wondering as i cant go more then four days in a row without needed to get intoxicated in some shape or form, as life itself sucks without intoxicants, but im about to start taking prozac and i want to make sure it wont effect my habbits

Hi again,

I was always told that I could drink alcohol, but not much. I don't drink alcohol anyway so it was never a problem for me. I would suggest having only one or two pints when you go out. The problem is that alcohol mixed with some anti-depressants can make you extremely depressed, more so than normal.

alright thx for the info, yeah should not be a problem not on the anti-depressents for depression on them for ocd and panic disorder, i only get depressed if im sober and i try to not let that happen lol.
